Born in 1981, Istanbul
Lives and works in Istanbul and Menlo Park, California.
Nazlı Gürlek is an artist based between Istanbul, and Menlo Park in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. She holds a BA in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence (2006) and an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths College, London (2008). After 12 years working as a curator she has recently taken up her artistic practice.
Since then her artworks has taken part in group exhibition “Floating Tactics After a Sunken Island” (2017, Daire Gallery, Istanbul) and 6th International Çanakkale Biennial: “Before the Past, After the Future” (2018, Çanakkale, Turkey). Her performative art piece “ONE” was staged in September 2017 at Koç University’s Research Center for Anatolian Civilisations (RCAC) in the context of RCAC’s exhibition “The Curious Case of Çatalhöyük” celebrating the 25th year of the excavations and as a parallel event to the 15th Istanbul Biennial.
