I heard silence for the first time when I dove into the water and opened my eyes. As it
drowned out the noise that would wash me and the ones before me away, I could’ve felt it
deep inside. Opalescent, calm. Above everything I could see, I took inside anything that was
floating with me and sent it to the sky.
The performance relates to the expression on the face of the figure in John Everett Millais’
Ophelia, as she lets herself into the water. The state of death, pre-sleep, out of consciousness
puts together an auto portrait with this performance.
Stay. For a while, calmly just stay.
