UK Representative + Assistant Curator
Naz Balkaya, is one of the artists who will perform in Disorders Vol.2. She is a Turkish artist-curator based in London, a recent graduate from MFA Curating at Goldsmiths University. Her projects generally promote collaboration, solidarity and safe networking, representing the millennial conditions and supporting the emerging artists. Currently, Balkaya works as an assistant curator for Performistanbul and represent them within the UK. Also, she has been working on her non-profit feminist institution In-Flux.., in a van, that commutes and hosts exhibitions within the UK. Artistically, Balkaya works through her artistic and curatorial collective, Panicattack Duo, which she established with Cypriot artist Emilia Demetriou in 2014. Panicattack mostly work with performance, video and photography, but also curates the series of performance exhibitions Razzmatazz since 2015. Recently, Panicattack has been selected as a part of Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2018. As part of this grand exhibition, they realised a durational performance piece titled Titled “Nothing Really Mattress” through literal and performative activity upon a double size mattress which is their ‘mobile studio’. They also consider the mattress as an exhibition space which enabled them to curate a series of events, talks and workshops on their mobile studio.
Eylül Deniz Ergun
Performance Coordinator + Communication
Eylül Deniz Ergun has graduated from Izmir University of Economics in the Department of Architecture in 2015. Right after, she started Advanced Architectural Design Master Program where she focused on critical architecture and explored the grey area between architecture, art and philosophy. In the summer of 2017, she attended “The School for Curatorial Studies” in Venice during 57th Biennale Viva Arte Viva where she elaborately experienced to create an exhibition from conceptual frame to production. At the end, she took part as a co-curator in the exhibition titiled “How Much is Too Much?” with 21 international Curatorial Studies students. In the summer of 2018, she worked as a Exhibition Production Assistant at the 4th Design Biennale titled “A School of Schools” by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) where she had the chance to observe and practise the production and installation of an exhibition in bigger scale yet detailed. In 2018, she started her second master program in “Cultural Management” at Istanbul Bilgi University and began to work as an Performance Coordinator + Communaction at Performistanbul She currently continues her work in Performistanbul International Performance Art Platform and Performistanbul Live Art Research Space. She has been included in the following performance projects; 3 Days with MASA by Leman S. Darıcıoğlu (Blok Art Space Valide Han Konağı), Room by Gülhatun Yıldırım (İklim Sanat Projesi) and Silence of the Heart by Ebru Sargın L. and 10 performers (Istanbul Bilgi University Energy Museum).
Derya Dinç has accomplished her education at the Istanbul Bilgi University, in the Departments of Art & Cultural Management and Stage and Performing Arts. Throughout her education, she took part invarious performances as the following; Pressed, Zone (Palazzo Ca’Zanardi), IT IS LIQUID (International Art Festival, Venice), Face Time, a group performance by Murat Adash (Art On İstanbul), Loose Contact, a solo performance (Oxytocin Haydarpaşa, Dikimevi, DAS ART PROJECT), Art of Disagreement, a group performance by Işıl Eğrikavuk (SALT Art Gallery). Alongside the performances she attended and produced, Dinç questions the lack of Perfomance Art and performance artists, in terms of their lack of communication with the audience and with institutions. Within this period of inquisition, in 2017, she began to work as an Assistant-Director. She currently continues her work with the artists at Performistanbul International Performance Art Platform, as well as she follows-up the performance projects which take part in various spaces. She has been included in the following performance projects; Look Again (Pera Müzesi), Infinite Field by İ. Ata Doğruel (Zilberman Gallery) and Needed: You, a 672-hour Live Process (Performistanbul).
