Dominique Savitri BARON-BONARJEE
Dominique’s works – installations, moving image, sound works, performances, drawings – are the unfolding permutations of a recurring question about the alterity of the body: both, self-conscious identity – subject – and abstract materiality – object. Through existential Zen-like riddles, she brings the mystical practices of the Eastern psycho-technologies of ‘nonduality’, into a generative tension with contemporary systemic concerns, where the ‘poetics of activism’ become the inner choreographies of a spiritualized political body.
EEG technology becomes her ‘hacker/collaborator’, enabling observation of how systemic narratives are introjected into bodies. She seeks to subvert this through altered-states of consciousness. In her artworks, she deploys ‘rhythmic fields’, composed around threshold moments,
