Visual Artist, Performance Artist
Selin Kocagöncü (b.1982) is a Turkish-Canadian artist who primarily works in live art and focuses on ethics in life and in art. Her work has been exhibited, screened and/or performed at venues including Siemens Art, White Box (NYC), Akbank Art, The Usher Gallery (Lincoln, UK), Daire Art, GalataPerform; as well as projects including Needed: You, Contemporary Istanbul, Real Presence 8 (Belgrade), and Exchange Radical Moments! (Stockholm). Kocagöncü has earned her BA from Wesleyan University (CT, USA, 2005) and her MFA from Marmara University (Istanbul, 2010). She is currently working towards her PhD at Marmara, researching the role of documentation in performative work. Kocagöncü is represented by the international performance art platform Performistanbul. She lives and works in Istanbul, where she founded SK Stüdyo, a project inquiring into an alternative education in arts.
