Simge Burhanoğlu
Founding Director of Performistanbul + Performance Curator

Simge Burhanoğlu; Founder Director of International performance art platform Performistanbul, performance curator and ballet critic, elaborates on human and their physical & mental state of mind. She investigates the human body through various disciplines and currently continues her studies on performance art. Believing in the healing and unifying power of performance art, she manages this discipline as a significant and influential tool in order to reach out to people. Burhanoglu pursues her work to put into practice Performsitanbul Live Art Research Space; through which she aims to explore new dialects – which will be convenient for the 21 st century – as well as researching in the area of performance art. After having education for 12 years in the field of ballet, she has completed her bachelor’s degree at Istanbul Bilgi University, in the Management of Stage and Performing Arts Department. She then continued her postgraduate degree in London, on Ballet Studies at the University of Roehampton. Between the years of 2014 and 2016, working at Zorlu Performance Arts Central as the Art Projects Manager, she realized installation projects such as Şakir Gökçebağ’s Black Hole and Chiharu Shiota’s First Home. Also, within Perfomistanbul, Burhanoğlu curated several performances such as; Water by Gülhatun Yıldırım (Pi Artworks 2016), At the Studio by Suzan D. Polat (Alt Art Space, 2016), My Sandcastles by Ekin Bernay (BLOK Art Space, 2016), Look Again (Pera Museum, 2017), Have You Noticed the Performance?, How Are You? ? (Mamut Art Project Performance Programme, 2016, 2017) and Needed: You, a 672-hour Live Process (Performistanbul, 2018). Burhanoglu continues reviewing in art journals; she has over 20 articles in varied publishings.

Azra İşmen

As of 2019, Azra İşmen started working in the international performance art platform and the live art research space  (PCSAA) of Performistanbul as the co-director. After studying in Sorbonne Paris 4 and graduating from Michel Montaigne Bordeaux III University in 2009 where she majored in Applied Foreign Languages in French, English and Italian, she studied Economics and Management in Paris VIII Vincennes-Saint-Denis University. Within that period, she took Art History and Painting lessons in Paris Fine Arts Academy (Académie des Beaux-Arts). After a few years of working experience in different fields, she oriented herself in the arts & culture world and enrolled in the Art  & Cultural Management MA at Bilgi University while working for numerous art institutions. In 2017, she participated in a 4-month program at the School of Curatorial Studies in Venice, concurrent with the Documenta, Skulptur Projekte and the Venice Biennale, where she received an intensive curatorial education, attended workshops of art professionals working in selected art institutions of Europe and lastly participated in the co-curation of the “How Much Is Too Much?” exhibition in A Plus Gallery. İşmen worked in various positions ranging from exhibition coordination/communication, creation/management of artists’ archives, supporting artists’ project developments, collection consultancy/management/curation to art writing and content editing. Along with Assoc. Prof. Serhan Ada, she is also the assistant editor of  Akbank Sanat’s YouTube channel project titled “Akbank Art Talks ’20 -’21”. In addition to her archival works with various artists, notable institutions she worked with include IKSV (14th Istanbul Biennial), Akbank Sanat and Art On Istanbul.

Naz Balkaya
UK Representative + Assistant Curator

Naz Balkaya, is one of the artists who will perform in Disorders Vol.2. She is a Turkish artist-curator based in London, a recent graduate from MFA Curating at Goldsmiths University. Her projects generally promote collaboration, solidarity and safe networking, representing the millennial conditions and supporting the emerging artists. Currently, Balkaya works as an assistant curator for Performistanbul and represent them within the UK. Also, she has been working on her non-profit feminist institution In-Flux.., in a van, that commutes and hosts exhibitions within the UK. Artistically, Balkaya works through her artistic and curatorial collective, Panicattack Duo, which she established with Cypriot artist Emilia Demetriou in 2014. Panicattack mostly work with performance, video and photography, but also curates the series of performance exhibitions Razzmatazz since 2015. Recently, Panicattack has been selected as a part of Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2018. As part of this grand exhibition, they realised a durational performance piece titled Titled “Nothing Really Mattress” through literal and performative activity upon a double size mattress which is their ‘mobile studio’. They also consider the mattress as an exhibition space which enabled them to curate a series of events, talks and workshops on their mobile studio.

Ayda Bayram
Performance and Archive Coordinator

Ayda Bayram has graduated (2019) from Istanbul Bilgi University in the Department of Arts and Cultural Management. During studies, she volunteered in various performances. These; Tuhaf Bir Performans Dersi, Kral Benim, İsimsiz Obje. In her last year, she started as an intern at Performistanbul and had the chance to see the background of the performances. After graduation, she started to work as Performance Coordinator in Performistanbul. Ayda Bayram was included this projects; 3 Days with MASA by Leman S. Darıcıoğlu (Blok Art Space Valide Han Konağı), Live Art Talks, Complete Incomplete by Leman S. Darıcıoğlu (B2 House, Çanakkale), Cycle by Gülhatun Yıldırım (Artnivo), eggs and potatoes and eggs by Mk Yurttaş (Poşe Gallery), Circle by Selin Kocagöncü (Kadın Eserleri Kütüphanesi), Performance Rooms: Superimposed by Ebru Sargın L., Selin Kocagöncü, Gülhatun Yıldırım, Batu Bozoğlu (Elgiz Museum), [HOMEWORK X] – WORLBMON by Ekin Bernay (Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University İstanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture).

Burcu Dimili
Press and PR Consultant

Burcu Dimili graduated from Istanbul University, Department of Sociology in 2012, and after her advertising agency experience, she started to work in the culture and art platform Artful Living. Dimili, who worked as the Editor-in-Chief of Artful Living for seven years, was the editor in chief of many printed publications such as Review, Alem Artful Living, !f Insider, Festivalden, Contemporary Daily, Artful Living September Art Agenda, Artful Living 2019 Agenda and Artful Living 2020 Agenda.
Dimili continued writing freelance for many publications simultaneously. She wrote for many publications such as Istanbul Art News, XOXO, JUJU, Art Unlimited. She took place as a discussant in the following live broadcasts; the seminar titled “Art Writing in Digital Environment” within the scope of ArtWriting Turkey, the panel titled “Responsibilities of Contemporary Art Writers” within the scope of Base Istanbul and “Why Still A Woman Artist in the 21st Century?” in the scope of Step Talks.
Burcu Dimili, who has been continuing her career as a freelance writer since June 2020, also manages the press and public relations of Performistanbul. In addition, she continues her work as an art writer in channels such as Kolekta, Vogue, Aposto!, Sanat Dünyamız and Disonans.


Derya Dinç
Assistant Director

Derya Dinç has accomplished her education at the Istanbul Bilgi University, in the Departments of Art & Cultural Management and Stage and Performing Arts. Throughout her education, she took part invarious performances as the following; Pressed, Zone (Palazzo Ca’Zanardi), IT IS LIQUID (International Art Festival, Venice), Face Time, a group performance by Murat Adash (Art On İstanbul), Loose Contact, a solo performance (Oxytocin Haydarpaşa, Dikimevi, DAS ART PROJECT), Art of Disagreement, a group performance by Işıl Eğrikavuk (SALT Art Gallery). Alongside the performances she attended and produced, Dinç questions the lack of Perfomance Art and performance artists, in terms of their lack of communication with the audience and with institutions. Within this period of inquisition, in 2017, she began to work as an Assistant-Director. She currently continues her work with the artists at Performistanbul International Performance Art Platform, as well as she follows-up the performance projects which take part in various spaces. She has been included in the following performance projects; Look Again (Pera Müzesi), Infinite Field by İ. Ata Doğruel (Zilberman Gallery) and Needed: You, a 672-hour Live Process (Performistanbul).

Eylül Deniz Ergun
PCSAA Coordinator + Design

Eylül Deniz Ergun has graduated from Izmir University of Economics in the Department of Architecture in 2015. Right after, she started Advanced Architectural Design Master Program where she focused on critical architecture and explored the grey area between architecture, art and philosophy. In the summer of 2017, she attended “The School for Curatorial Studies” in Venice during 57th Biennale Viva Arte Viva where she elaborately experienced to create an exhibition from conceptual frame to production. At the end, she took part as a co-curator in the exhibition titiled “How Much is Too Much?” with 21 international Curatorial Studies students. In the summer of 2018, she worked as a Exhibition Production Assistant at the 4th Design Biennale titled “A School of Schools” by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) where she had the chance to observe and practise the production and installation of an exhibition in bigger scale yet detailed. In 2018, she started her second master program in “Cultural Management” at Istanbul Bilgi University and began to work as an PCSAA Coordinator + Design at Performistanbul. She currently continues her work in Performistanbul International Performance Art Platform and Performistanbul Live Art Research Space. She has been included in the following performance projects; 3 Days with MASA by Leman S. Darıcıoğlu (Blok Art Space Valide Han Konağı), Room by Gülhatun Yıldırım (İklim Sanat Projesi) and Silence of the Heart by Ebru Sargın L. and 10 performers (Istanbul Bilgi University Energy Museum).
